Fitness Friday the 13th

First off, today was Friday the 13th, one of my favorite days! Hope all had a very lucky day!

It’s been a super busy week, and I am looking forward to the weekend. Adrian and I are gearing up for our first 5K on Sunday! As I mentioned in my previous post, we are going to run in the Coral Springs 9/11 Remembrance 5K. We are so excited to see what the 5K experience is like, and we will be pushing the kids in the stroller, so hopefully they have fun too!

Adrian and I both went for a run the other night and did some of our best times ever! I am really, really proud of us both for working so hard at this!

I wanted to share a screenshot from my Runkeeper app showing my time so that I can record this milestone. It was the first run that I was able to do with my average page being under 15 minutes for a total of 2 miles. My pace was 14:35 per mile! It was incredibly hard (especially since it was pretty humid last night) and I pushed myself SO HARD, but I did it! YAY!

The first time I ever ran two miles was June 7th, just a few days after starting the C25K program, and my pace then was 17:57 per mile. Wow, what an improvement! No, I still can’t run the whole thing straight (the longest I’ve ever run was 15 minutes in one go, and that was tough), but maybe one day I will be able to.

I have lots of friends online, and running seems to be so effortless for them, as they regularly make very long runs several times a week. I even have a few EXTREME runner friends who are such a huge inspiration to me. I don’t know if I will ever get to that point. I feel like it will always be hard for me… although I would love to be able to do a half marathon one day. For now, I am just really excited about this 5K and the fact that I get to share my very first one ever with my family this Sunday!
