Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, FL

In December 2007, I was lucky enough to go on a photo expedition to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, FL, sponsored by the South Florida Camera Club, of which I was a member at the time. I attended the expedition with other club members on a day the park was closed. We were able to enter the animal enclosures and see and even touch different animals, like deer, hawks, owls, and turtles (not something that is normally allowed!). It was an amazing experience.

I attended this event right before I became pregnant with Zachary. He is such an animal lover and adores being outdoors, exploring, and seeing new animals and birds. This would be so much fun to do with him. Plus, for older kids, BWS has a Junior Naturalist Program that looks pretty neat, teaching kids all about Florida wildlife, gardening, and caring for the animals.

Since we’ve had such great weather lately, I thought I’d share some of my photos and some information about BWS since this is a great time to visit the park.

In addition to being an animal sanctuary where you can see and learn about some of Florida’s native creatures, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary also supports a wildlife hospital, a nature center, and various trails to enjoy. It is a great place to bring your camera and take pictures of Florida’s flora and fauna.

Jupiter is about an hour’s drive north of Ft. Lauderdale and two hours from Miami if you decide to visit!
