Our visit to the Renaissance Festival at Quiet Waters Park

Every year, I visit the Florida Renaissance Festival, located at Quiet Waters Park. The Ren Fest is one of my happy places. I love the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. I love seeing all of the people dressed up and recognizing those who come year after year. This year, I received complimentary tickets thanks to The Boza Agency and I was thrilled to attend with my family and share our experience here on my blog.

The Ren Fest began on Feb. 7th and will run until March 15th, 2015 at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, Fl. Make sure you visit before the festival is over!

We visited over this past weekend, and it just happened to be Time Traveler Sunday, so there were many people dressed up in Doctor Who inspired outfits! We saw Doctors, TARDISes, and even Daleks! Plus, lots of steampunk-y goodness, in addition to the traditional renaissance festival garb. It was a really fun time, and my kids (especially Zachary) enjoyed seeing all of the Doctor Who inspired outfits!

The first thing we saw coming into the park were these girls! Loved their outfits!

The next thing we saw was the Dragon Joust. Zachary was very excited to go on this ride and succeeded in using his sword to knock the ring off of the dragon! Yay Zachary! He had a blast!

We always love seeing all of the colorful characters dressed up in Renaissance garb, fairy wings, and other costumes.

One of my favorite stops is the Apothecary’s Shop and the Paladin Society of South Plantation High School. I’ve been photographing them for many years and love to see the intricacies of their booth every year.

I always love seeing this sign! It’s another one that I’ve photographed many times. It never fails to make me laugh!

There are so many amazing vendors who sell hand made items. That’s one of the best parts of going to the Renaissance Festival every year – coming away with something truly unique! In the bottom right photo below, you’ll see TARDIS and Sonic Screwdriver necklaces sold by Foundation Foundry, one of my favorite booths. I bought a TARDIS this year. I purchase something from Foundation every year as a souvenir of the Ren Fest, and I have a wonderful collection!

Our final stop of the day was the Joust. Interestingly, in so many years of attending the faire, I have never seen the Joust! We sat next to this sweet service dog for the joust.

Before the joust, they invited the audience (mostly just the kids) to participate in a tug-of-war. Zachary was excited to take part in this activity and had a lot of fun!

Then it was time to watch the Joust! We loved seeing the beautiful horses and watching the show. Our Knight was Sir William, in red and white. You can see him below receiving a “favor” (ribbons/good luck charm) from a little girl. He and his partner ended up winning the Joust! Yay!

On our way out of the Joust, we ran into one of Zachary’s Karate instructors, Miss Kayla, who was all dressed up for the Ren Fest! We loved her outfit and enjoyed getting to see her!

Had to make sure I got a snap of all 3 of my boys before we left! William would not look at the camera, but two out of three is a success! 🙂

I am so happy that I had the opportunity to attend the Florida Renaissance Festival this year with my family, especially before we move up to GA later this year. It’s always been such a special place for me, and this will likely be my last time visiting this particular festival. There are so many wonderful things about the Florida Renaissance Festival that I will always remember – especially the magical people who make it happen every year!

I had a wonderful afternoon with my boys! Thanks again to The Boza Agency for providing me with tickets in exchange for a review of the event.
