About that garden I planted…

So, last year I posted about how my husband and I had planted a garden with Zachary. We ended up having a really nice crop of bell peppers and then I got really busy and kind of stopped taking care of the garden. Oops. Well, Adrian has been bugging me for the past week to go out back and start working on the garden again since it really needs to have weeds pulled, plants tended to, etc.

My bell pepper plant is kind of half dead, and I’m hoping I can bring it back to life with care and extra watering. I also have some small basil seedlings sprouting up even though we ripped the basil out since it became monstrous. I want to carefully pull those up and transfer them into a small planter so they don’t overtake the entire garden again.

Being in Florida, I always have to make sure I keep my face and skin safe from the sun. I really need to get a new hat so that doing yard work this spring and summer is more enjoyable for me, and I really like the Panama Hats from 1001PanamaHats.com.

This Panama Hat is stylish and useful as it would definitely shield the sun from my eyes while working in the garden.

I also love this classic sunhat which comes in a variety of colors and has a very large 5″ brim and a sweat band. It would be great for working outside for hours in the FL heat:

Their sister site, 1001FedoraHats.com, also has some great choices for women, mens, and kids fedora hats. I really like this option for my husband, as he loves Fedoras and doesn’t really have a yard-appropriate hat:

Zachary plays outside all the time when I’m out in the yard, so why not choose a child sized fedora hat, too, to protect that baby skin? This one is pretty cute, don’t you think?

Protecting our skin in the sun is a big concern of mine since we do live in one of the hottest states in the country and in the southern part of the state, so picking up a hat is a priority for me for sure when tending the garden. Hopefully with lots of extra care I’ll be able to bring my poor garden back to life for the summer season!

  1. I really enjoyed how you brought the concept of gardening, sun protection and finding the right hat all together. Being outdoors can be fun and fashionable at the same time.
