34 weeks

Getting closer… I’m 34 weeks today and have 42 days to go!!!

Sleeping is starting to get a lot harder. I wake up multiple times in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom! Just this morning at 6am, I woke up for the 3rd time and just couldn’t get back to sleep. I was too hot and Maya insisted on being my personal space heater even though I absolutely do not need one. I’m hot ALL the time and my skin feels like it’s on fire! After debating it for about ten minutes, I decided to get up and start the day. I’ve done some work this morning and figure I can always take a nap later on. For some reason, I have been sleeping much better during the day with naps, so that works out fine for me.

Anyway, here’s the latest from babycenter.com:

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers — which will help regulate his body temperature once he’s born — are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Our second (and last) birth class is on Monday, and I have my 34 week appointment on Tuesday.

Things I’d like to have completed in the next few weeks:
– Pick up the crib from the store (it should be delivered today)
– Do the baby’s laundry
– Pick out a going home outfit
– Research getting the car seat installed & have it installed
– Buy second car seat base
– Make a list of items to put in my hospital bag
– Pack hospital bag
– Finalize my birth plan
– Finish thank-you notes from baby shower
– Put together the swing, exersaucer, and other things
– Have wall art framed and hang it up in the baby’s room
– Take hospital tour
